Abstract
This Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) Phase II project aims to investigate and experiment on several aspects in the development of a multi-sensor system for the autonomous characterization of indoor building environments. The system involves nodes with diverse sensing capabilities, the transport of data through a mesh network, and the fusion of sensor data to generate building characterization information, which is presented to the end-user through a graphical interface. Phase I efforts resulted in theoretically, analytically, and experimentally sound strategies for implementing critical components, including the fusion algorithms, sensor hardware, and the software framework, that enable realization of MaXentric’s Advanced Mapping and Position System (AMPS). The key Phase II objective is to deliver a working prototype of AMPS.
