Abstract
Recent novel researches by MaxPower have shown that several high energy density Li batteries can be developed to perform as an active battery specifically designed to replace reserve munitions batteries. MaxPower will employ several new approaches to develop this active munitions battery with unique properties such as high rate discharge, high capacity and energy density, very large operational temperature range capability (-46?C to 63?C), and an extended shelf life of 20 years storage at temperatures ranging from -54?C to 74?C. MaxPower's approaches to develop the technology for this active munitions battery involve R&D on high energy density cathode materials, and electrolyte solutions which are highly conductive at low temperatures and which are thermally and electrochemically stable over the required temperature ranges.
