AbstractNot Available The program Mitigation of Hidden Corrosion for Reduction in Total Cost of Ownership is to develop a process for mitigation of hidden corrosion in shipboard systems by in-situ impressed current cathodic protection, delivered from within the component. The Phase I program will include 1) demonstration of the technical feasibility of this concept, by mitigation of crevice corrosion with a pipe flange, 2) identification of shipboard components which have significant corrosion problems, which could be prevented by this technology, 3) preliminary cost/benefit analysis and prioritization of those components, 4) identification of the required attributes of the mitigation process for the selected component, and 5) identification of the manufacturing issues associated with design and fabrication of the innovative technology for delivery of impressed current cathodic protection into hard-to-access areas of shipboard systems.
