AbstractMesoScribe Technologies, Inc., in conjunction with program partners EDO Antenna Products, Wireless Technology Associates, and Raytheon Corporation, propose to explore the design, modeling, fabrication, and proof-of-concepts for implementing large-area rectenna arrays for the collection and production of electrical power. This work builds strongly on the suite of results obtained during the Phase I study. System-level considerations such as integration, cost, and transport will be addressed. Key designs were developed and components identified in the Phase I study. The Phase II study will expand on these concepts while demonstrating proof-of-concept on the laboratory scale. Component-level issues, including substrate, antenna element, rectifying diodes and capacitors, and thermal management issues will be addressed during the program. MesoScribe’s novel direct write technology along with EDO’s advanced design capability provide a unique framework for advancing core rectenna technologies. The successful development of component and/or system level technology may have many potential dual-use applications. The SBIR Phase II will provide a framework to develop the team and advance these key technologies.
