AbstractIn this project, MetroLaser proposes to develop a conceptual design for a prototype time-sequential multiperspective autostereographic display (ASD). This system will have multiple stereoscopic viewing zones over an extended field of view. The envisioned architecture for the ASD will extend the capabilities of the display so that three-dimensional images can be seen by multiple viewers. In the Phase I program, we will develop a breadboard system and conduct a series of proof-of-concept experiments to demonstrate the feasibility of the proposed technology and experimentally verify the key components of the system. Part of the Phase I work will also include a commercialization plan for the ASD system. The display system to be built in Phase II will provide high quality 3-D imagery without the need for glasses, goggles, or other viewing aids. Ultimately, a commercial system will be built that will provide multi-user interactivity at near real-time speeds.
