Innovative Volumetric Array Packing and Deployment

Triton Systems, Inc and partners will develop and evaluate innovative structures for reliably deploying large volumetric acoustic arrays from standard U.S. Navy Size A sonobuoy canisters. Triton’s design will be capable of deploying acoustic arrays containing more than 100 sensing elements. This system will fit within the 18” long by 4.875” diameter of a size A sonobuoy canister. Once deployed, the structure will expand radially and axially. The structure is designed to provide predictable and repeatable spacing of sensor nodes, and to be acoustically transparent so as not to affect sensor performance.  Triton’s design will provide the U.S. Navy with a low cost, compact, and reliable means of deploying volumetric acoustic arrays.
