Abstract

The development of a high-power LWIR InP-based waveguide transmission and out-coupling approach that reliably increases the maximum continuous wave (CW) optical power that can be emitted from the waveguide into a nearly Gaussian beam (M2 < 2.0) to at least 10 W. Optical power propagation in the waveguide will be in a single lateral mode and the transmission at the output surface will exceed 90%. Five best samples will be delivered to the Naval Research Laboratory, along with complete test data report and any specialized equipment needed to replicate testing.
