Abstract
This project will develop a configurable trauma lifesaver assistant whereby the technical skills of a frontline caregiver can be augmented by an intelligent, integrated system of medical devices to rapidly stabilize and treat high acuity patients. More generally, the system may be used to monitor and display patient physiological parameters and may also act on the patient in order to deliver fluid, medication or therapeutic interventions. The system will consist of interoperable components consisting not only of medical devices but also informatics components such as care algorithms, decision support content, smart alarms, and patient information all coordinated by a supervisory function. The supervisory function will be based on the proposed standard for the Integrated Clinical Environment.
