Abstract
THE USE OF STATISTICAL TABLES OF DISTRIBUTIONS IS CRUCIAL TO MANY AREAS OF MEDICAL RESEARCH. THE CURRENT AVAILABILITYOF MICROCOMPUTERS MAKES IT POSSIBLE TO AUTOMATE THE PROCESS OF USING THESE TABLES. MOREOVER, THE COMPUTER CAN PRODUCE THE TABLE ENTRIES BY EVALUATING THE UNDERLYING DENSITY FUNCTIONS, THUS ELIMINATING THE NEED FOR INTERPOLATION AS WELL AS YIELDING MORE ACCURATE RESULTS. THE LONG-TERM OBJECTIVE OF THIS PROJECT IS TO DEVELOP A SOFTWARE PACKAGE TO GENERATE STATISTICAL TABLES USING THE UNDERLYING FUNCTIONS. THE SOFTWARE WILL ENABLE THE USER TO REQUEST A PARTICULAR RANGE AND INCREMENT FOR THE TEST STATISTIC, THE TYPE OF TEST TO BE PERFORMED, THE FORM OF THEENSUING TABLE, AND AN ACCOMPANYING GRAPHICS DISPLAY. IN PHASE I, TABLES FOR THE NORMAL, STUDENT'S T, AND F DISTRIBUTION WILL BE COMPLETED. IN PHASE II, AT LEAST FIVE MORE TABLES WILL BE ADDED TO THE PACKAGE.
