Abstract
Current radar altimeters in cluster munitions use an FMCW approach which requires expensive touch labor on the antenna to get the proper isolation and expensive multi-chip modules for processing the received energy. Mustang Technology Group will fabricate a form-factored low-cost radar altimeter and demonstrate through drop testing. Low-cost pulsed radars can now be manufactured using commercially available components and only require a very inexpensive patch antenna. The results of the demonstration will reveal a cost effective solution that is ready for a qualification and manufacturing prove-out program which allows the Government immediate cost savings in cluster munitions.
