Abstract
THIS PROJECT WILL PRODUCE THE RESULTS NECESSARY TO DETERMINE IF ULTRHIGH TEMPERATURE FUELS PRODUCE FLAMES WITH SUFFICIENT EMISSIVITY TO BE CONSIDERED AS A CANDIDATE FOR THE DNA THERMAL RADIATION SOURCE TEST FACILITY. A SMALL TORCH WILL BE CONSTRUCTED WHICH WILL BURN COMMERCIALLY AVAILABLE CHEMICALS SIMILAR TO ULTRA-HIGH TEMPERATURE FUELS OF THE CMNN CLASS. THERMAL FLUX AND SPECTRAL MEASUREMENTS OF THE FLAME WILL BE MADE IN ORDER TO DETERMINE THE RADIATIVE OUTPUT. SUFFICIENT RESULTS WILL BE OBTAINED FROM THIS EXERCISE SO THAT DNA CAN DETERMINE IF FURTHER PURSUIT OF USING SUCH FUELS FOR THERMAL RADIATION SIMULATION IS WORTHWHILE.
