Abstract
THE PROJECT WILL DEVELP AND EVALUATE AN EDUCATIONAL CURRICULUM FOR TEENAGERS ON SEXUAL ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES. TEENAGE SEXUALITY IS AN AREA OF URGENT CONCERN BECAUSE OF THE PREVALENCE OF AIDS, SEXUALLY TRANSMITTED DISEASE, TEENAGE PREGNANCY, AND RAPE. MALE SEXUAL BEHAVIOR, IN PARTICULAR, HAS RECEIVED LITTLE ATTENTION IN RESEARCH OR AS A FOCUS FOR BEHAVIORAL INTERVENTION. EDUCATORS NEED CURRICULA AND MATERIALS THAT ADDRESS TENNAGE ATTITUDES AND BEHAVIORS IN SOCIALLY RELEVANT TERMS. AN INSTRUCTIONAL UNIT WILL FOCUS ON CHANGING COERCIVE MALE SEXUAL BEHAVIORS. THE CURRICULUM, INTENDED FOR COEDUCATIONAL GROUPS, WILL USE VIDEOTAPED VIGNETTES, PEER GROUP DISCUSSION, AND ROLE-PLAYING TO 1) PROMOTE THE ACCURATE USE OF COMMUNICAITON SKILLS, 2) WUESTION STEROTYPICAL ATTITUDES AND BELIEFS, AND 3) TEACH THE VALUE OF FEMALE ASSERTIVENESS AND MALE RESTRAINT IN DATING SITUATIONS. MULTIPLE MEASURES WILL BE USED TO ASSESS CHANGES IN TEENAGERS' (15-18 YEARS OLD) ATTITUDES TOWARD AND KNOWLEDGE OF SEXUAL BEHAVIOR IN DATING SITUATIONS.
