We propose to develop Para-DEVS, an extension of the existing modeling and simulation (M&S) environment overcome two major hurdles that must be overcome to implement paratemporal simulation techniques for application to execution of large stochastic models. We propose to develop techniques to achieve scalability, the ability to overcome the combinatorial explosion of branching arising from multiple choice points, and configurability, the ability to configure newly, or reconfigure conventionally, designed M&S artifacts to enable underlying simulators to support paratemporal execution. The development will leverage RTSync’s support of collaborative development models for reusability and composability, attributes that can overcome configurability issues to support implementations that will foster wide-spread utilization in MDA’s and similar defense and commercial M&S environments.
