Abstract
PSR proposes a designed feasibility study for a portable instrument to determine the IR characteristics of any EO sensor. The field instrument would be based on PSR's current visible-NIR measurement system, and would provide essential information required for specification verification, data gathering or flightline testing of IR and EO sensors. The envisional battery powered unit would require no on-site support, and would be man-portable for quick reaction capability. The unit would measure the IR characteristics of operating or non-operating sensors, including spectral throughput, resolution, field of view, and OA signature. Phase I effort will culminate in an instrument design based on recent IRAD development. The system would be designed to make measurement on any IR or EO sensors of interest to WL/AAWD-2. It will save money by allowing personnel with minimal training to collect data.
