Abstract
In Phase I, the Peerless team developed an approach for an innovative wizard driven, turn-key, system that can be used by inexperienced operators to quickly design new sensor networks and evaluate existing sensor networks for the protection against and detection of CB agents within public structures. For Phase II, Peerless will conduct three development spirals to build the prototype system, validate the system s performance against the performance metrics, conduct a pilot test in a relevant environment, assess uncertainties and identify remaining risk, and demonstrate that the system does not require an expert operator or system architect. The team s design involves identifying key components in key asset HVAC systems, such as air handlers, and targeting these areas for layout of the sensors within the sensor network. These identified key components of the HVAC systems will be encapsulated as system models within a standards based knowledge base. Once the models are established within the standardized knowledge-base, a set of software-based wizards will guide the system s users and provide a turn the crank system concept for quickly designing new CB sensor networks and for evaluating existing CB sensor networks.
