Abstract
USING WORD-STUFFING TECHNIQUE, A SMART MUX CAN BE DEVELOPED TO ALLOW MULTIPLEXING OF TELEMETRY AND OTHER HIGH-SPEED DATA STREAMS (OVER 1.544 MBPS) FOR TRNSMISSION OVER DIGITAL MICROWAVE SYSTEMS UTILITING TWO OR MORE T1 LINES AND/OR AT THE DS-2 LEVEL. INPUT DATA SEQUENCE IS FORMATTING INTO I-BIT CHANNEL WORD. CHANNEL WORD IS THEN TRANSMITTED ONCE IN EACH DATA FRAME. BY ADJUSTING THE WORD RATE, TOGETHER WITH WORD-STUFFING, THE MUX CAN OPERATE AT VARIABLE INPUT DATA RATES.
