AbstractThis SBIR is directed to the application of image enhancement techniques to coherent two dimensional transformation of the acoustic time series to enhance low-level, stable signal components from diesel-electric submarines and suppress interference. The transformation are invertable and the final product will be an enhanced time series, relatively free from artifacts, that can be processed and displayed on current fleet classification processors, e.g., Multi-Flexible Analysis and Display System (MFLADS). The ability to display the results on current displays in familiar context permits an operator to achieve, without the requirement for training on new concepts or display types, an enhanced capability against a difficult target. The foregoing, if achieved, will be of significant cost saving to the Navy.
