Abstract
THIS PROPOSAL DETAILS THE PLANNING PHASE OF A STUDY OF MODEL POSTSECONDARY PROGRAMS AIMED AT IMPROVING THE TRANSITION OF HANDICAPPED STUDENTS FROM SCHOOL TO WORK. THEPLANNING PHASE WILL INVOLVE A LITERATURE REVIEW AND SYNTHESIS, FORMATION OF AND CONSULTATION WITH AN ADVISORY PANEL, SITE SELECTION, CASE STUDY PROTOCOL DEVELOPMENT, PRELIMINARY CASE STUDIES, AND A FINAL REPORT. THE LITERATURE REVIEW AND CONSULTATION WITH THE ADVISORY PANEL WILL FORM THE BASIS FOR PHASE I AND PHASE II SITE SELECTION AND PROTOCOL DEVELOPMENT. THE PRELIMINARY CASE STUDIES WILL BE BASED ON SITE VISITS TO THREE TRANSITION PROGRAMS LOCATED IN THE WASHINGTON, D.C., AREA. THESE CASE STUDIES WILL DESCRIBE THE THREE PROGRAMS IN DETAIL AND PROVIDE DATA FOR REVISING THE CASE STUDY PROTOCOLS FOR ADDITIONAL CASE STUDIES DURING PHASE II.
