Abstract
This Proposal is on hydrogen storage in the form of hydrogenated mixture of polycyclic hydrocarbons and their alkylated derivatives. Dehydrogenation of that mixture into polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) followed by hydrogen oxidation in fuel cell may satisfy the stringent DOE 2010 requirements, as shown by thermodynamical analysis of those processes. BENEFIT: The potential commercial applications for a liquid hydrogen storage method are quite large covering both military and civilian applications for fuel cells. This technology if successful could possibly transition our country into feasibly using a hydrogen infrastructure by converting the existing liquid infrastructure over to this new reusable hydrogen storage technology.
