Research Institution
There is a need to develop and demonstrate the application of certifiably accurate, self-managing software agents to improve continuity of operations of the shipboard application environment. In addition, there is a need to demonstrate how Semantic Web software agents can be employed to improve cross-venue data sharing capability for application to improve support of the operation, material maintenance and tactical war fighting missions of Naval submarines. The non-tactical system on a submarine is a complex machine comprised of multiple servers, multiple clients, and running several applications. There are many ways that the system can fail, research is proposed to understand how changes in the software infrastructure can eliminate or counteract the most frequent modes of failure.
