Propagation Research Associates, Inc., (PRA) proposes to extend and experimentally validate the results of the Phase I development of the Precision Pulse Positioning System (3PS) technology, which provides a multi-function capability for US Army Force Protection including the guidance of blue interceptors, the resolution of the blue air picture, the precision approach mission for blue aircraft, and optimal guidance methodologies for many-on-many interceptor threat engagements In addition, PRA proposes to create a detailed simulation of the optimal guidance methodology for multiple-interceptor multiple-threat engagements developed in Phase I. 3PS reduces the cost per kill required to engage rockets, artillery, and mortars (RAM) by eliminating costly components such as active seekers and inertial sensors. 3PS addresses the need for low-cost precision guidance and control of interceptors to locate interceptors and targets within the radar energy field. Using unique waveforms interceptors compute a guidance solution to the target that has minimal impact on radar resources. Additional advantages are that 3PS does not require the fire control radar to communicate with the interceptor and 3PS enables onboard computation of guidance solutions, thus permitting higher update rates without affecting radar duty cycle.
