Abstract
78600S The efficiency of solid oxide fuel cells can be increased by anode gas recycling. Therefore, in this project, a motor driven, high-temperature Anode Gas Recyle Centrifugal Blower will be designed, built, and demonstrated. A high-speed direct drive motor, combined with foil gas bearing technology, will result in a low cost, efficient, small, oil-free, and reliable blower. The approach will overcome the technical and economic issues that currently prevent motor driven blowers from being used. In Phase I, a breadboard blower will be designed, built, and demonstrated. In Phase II, a custom designed blower will be developed and demonstrated in an actual solid oxide fuel cell system.
