Abstract
RAYEX PROPOSES TO DEVELOP A ROTATING ANODE X-RAY TUBE WHICH WILL HAVE UNIQUE DESIGN FEATURES SUCH THAT ITS POWER AND DUTY CYCLE CAPABILITIES WILL BE INCREASED BY AT LEAST A FACTOR OF TWO OVER PRESENT-DAY TUBES INCLUDING MICRO-FOCUS TUBES. THE TUBE WILL BE SEALED AND SELF-CONTAINED WITH NO EXTERNAL PUMPING, AND WILL HAVE A PRACTICAL SIZE SUCH THAT IT CAN BE RETROFITTED TO PRESENT-DAY X-RAY SCANNING AND COMPUTER TOMOGRAPHY DEVICES. WITH THE ADDITION OF OTHER DESIGN FEATURES IN A PHASE II PROGRAM, THE POTENTIAL POWER ENHANCEMENT OF THE TUBE IS EXPECTED TO BE A FACTOR OF TEN.
