A coalition of multiple agencies within the DOD has identified a need for reliable intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) techniques capable of monitoring a wide variety of high interest situations and targets. The Joint Multi-Mission Electro-optic System (JMMES), which integrates many existing advanced optical sensors into a single instrument, is being developed to address this need. A laser designator/range finder (LD/RF) unit, currently under development for inclusion in the next generation JMMES test pod, lacks imaging capabilities necessary for operators to view the designated target. RL Associates, Inc. proposes to test, harden, and package a high resolution, near infrared (NIR) imaging sensor for incorporation into the LD/RF unit. As an option to this program, RL Associates, Inc. will install the imaging LD/RF in the JMMES test pod.
