Abstract
The proposed effort uses a combination of diode-pumped solid state lasers and optical parametric oscillators (OPOs) to generate a range of wavelengths in the mid-IR, from 1.5 to 5 microns. A modular system design involves several optical modules for generation of wavelengths in three different regions in the IR. In the Phase I effort the pump laser and the first set of OPOs will be investigated, with he goal of generating over 1 Watt of average power at pulse rates of 10-20 kiloHertz. In an option to Phase I, an alternate scheme for IR generation would be investigated, with the goal of reducing the number of modules required to cover the three wavelength regions.
