Abstract
THIS SMALL BUSINESS INNOVATIVE RESEARCH EFFORT WILL PROVIDE A PROTOTYPE MEASUREMENT SYSTEM WHICH CAN BE USED TO DETERMINE THE RLCM COUPLING PARAMETERS TO INTERIOR WIRES OF A MULTICONDUCTOR CABLE. KNOWLEDGE OF THE COUPLING PARAMETERS WILL ALLOW CALCULATION OF CURRENTS AND VOLTAGES ON INTERIOR WIRES INDUCED FROM SHIELD CURRENTS DUETO AN INCIDENT EMP OR DIRECT LIGHTNING STRIKE. THE PROTOTYPE MEASUREMENT SYSTEM WILL UTILIZE A CONTINUOUS WAVE DATA ACQUISITION SYSTEM AND A RECTANGULAR QUADRAXIAL TEST FIXTURE. PHASE II WILL INCLUDE VALIDATING THE PROTOTYPE SYSTEM FOR SEVERAL SIZES OF MULTICONDUCTOR CABLE, USING EXISTING SOFTWARE TO PERFORM FOURIER ANALYSIS ON TEST RESULTS, AN TESTING OTHER QUADRAXIAL GEOMETRIES.
