Abstract
THERE IS NEED FOR CRYSTAL SAMPLES TO STUDY NEW LASER MATERIALS. CURRENT CRYSTAL GROWTH SYSTEMS ARE EXPENSIVE ANDHENCE THE EXPERIMENTER NORMALLY LIMITS THE TEST VARIABLES. THERE IS A CURRENT NEED TO EVALUATE HOLMIUM DOPED YAG FOR A MID I-R LASER. THIS PROGRAM REQUIRES TWELVE SAMPLES, WITH VARYING RATIOS OF ERIBIUM, THULIUM HOLMIUM AND CHROMIUM, THULIUM, HOLMIUM. THIS PROGRAM PROPOSES TO DEVELOP THE FLAME FUSION CRYSTAL GROWTH PROCESS TO PROVIDE LOWER COST STUDY SAMPLES AS COMPARED TO CURRENTLY AVAILABLE COMMERCIAL SOURCES.
