Abstract
RESEARCH IS PROPOSED TO DEVELOP MATHEMATICAL ALGORITHMS AND COMPUTER PROGRAMS CAPABLE OF USING TOMOGRAPHIC DATA FOR RAPID NONDESTRUCTIVE INSPECTION OF STEEL SHEET. THE TECH- NIQUE COULD PROVIDE A MEASUREMENT OF THICKNESS ACROSS THE FULL WIDTH OF THE SHEET AND POSSIBLY DETECTION OF SURFACE AND INTERNAL DEFECTS. THE EMPHASIS IS UPON SCANNING OF VARIOUS THICKNESS SHEETS AT MILL SPEEDS [100 FEET/SEC]. SUCH A DEVICE COULD ALSO BE INSTALLED AT A CUSTOMER FACILITY
