Research Institution
Scientific Monitoring, Inc. (SMI) proposes to develop and mature an affordable, coherent software Validation and Verification (V&V) process and safety assurance methodology for flight-critical software. The proposed technology is affordable because it emphasize simulation-based acquisition. The technology is coherent because it applies to the full spectrum of software maturation process from design-time to run-time, including field operations. The proposed research focuses on the area of integrated software/hardware fault detection and recovery. The research suggests a paradigm shift of fielded safety-critical systems from design-time V&V-centric solutions to run-time assurance-centric solutions.
