Abstract
The objective of this project (Phases I and II) is to develop dynamic enterprise wide scheduling and optimization systems for allocations of health care provider personnel, medical equipment, and facilities resources under an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system for complex medical situations. This system will not only optimize the allocation of military health care personnel, equipment and facilities resources but also be designed to provide the patient access to the ERP such that the patient can make ``one-stop'' to fulfill multiple clinic scheduling requirements (for example, the standardized appointment types) and obtain information prior to receiving the health care service(s). Phase I will develop a dynamic enterprise-wide scheduling solution for the military health system and develop the methodology, computational approaches and architectural concepts to support design and implementation of the dynamic enterprise-wide scheduling system. Phase II will develop a prototype system test bed and enlarge the range of existing test scenarios to validate and demonstrate dynamic scheduling and resource allocation within the entire military continuum of care.
