Abstract
VOICE COMMUNICATIONS FOR COMMAND AND CONTROL CAN BE SEVERELY IMPAIRED BY THE PRESENCE OF BACKGROUND NOISE AT THE TALKER'S MICROPHONE. ONE OF THE MAJOR SOURCES OF BACKGROUND NOISE IS ENGINE OR TURBINE NOISE. SIGNATRON PROPOSES A NEW APPROACH FOR AN ADAPTIVE NOISE CANCELLATION SYSTEM TO REDUCE THE EFFECTS OF SUCH INTERFERENCE. THE NEW SYSTEM WILL USE MULTIPLE SENSORS TO OBTAIN THE MOST ACCURATE NOISE REFERENCE WAVEFORMS POSSIBLE. THESE SIGNALS WILL BE PROCESSED BY AN ADAPTATION ALGORITHM THAT IS COMPUTATIONALLY EFFICENT AND HAS A RAPID RATE OF CONVERGENCE IN ORDER TO COMPENSATE FOR SPEECH MICROPHONE DISPLACEMENTS.
