Abstract
The analysis of structural assemblies in aircraft requires careful consideration of the simplifications used in building the analysis models. Although using simplified analysis models has the benefit of reducing the time and cost of the analysis, they are only appropriate to use when the simplifications are valid. This project will provide automated tools that will both reduce the time to set up more detailed structural assembly models, through automated model and mesh generation, and will allow the evaluation of the appropriateness of the models used with appropriate consideration given to the behavior of structural joints.
