AbstractThe OBR-II feasibility research performed in Phase I confirmed our technical approach as the most suitable and appropriate design for the next generation data recorder. The SHOTr design will generate an innovative data acquisition system possessing previously unavailable capabilities for use in the research and development of precision munitions by the United States defense community. This second generation on-board recorder has highly advanced interface and control features, all of which are under software control. These features provide for drastically improved simplicity in interfacing the precision munitions sensor suite, device functionality, data acquisition timing control, and data retrieval to virtually any PC via a USB port. In addition to these compelling improvements to the recorders currently in use, SHOT's OBR-II channel capacity, signal converter resolution, and recorder storage capacity are far in excess of any of the high shock environment recorders available today. SHOT's OBR-II is a high shock environment recorder that is truly simple to use and should prove attractive in every regard to military and commercial customers.
