Abstract

AS THE MISSION DISPLAYS OF MILITARY SYSTEMS BECOME MORE COMPLEX, IT BECOMES NECESSARY TO IMPLEMENT MORE EFFECTIVE MEANS OF PRESENTING MISSION INFORMATION TO OPERATORS. AS A RESULT, MANY OF THESE DISPLAYS HAVE BEEN UPGRADED FROM MONOCHROME TO MULTI-COLOR UNITS. THIS IMPROVEMENT HAS PROMPTED THE REQUIREMENT FOR EFFECTIVE, STRUCTURED APPLICATION OF COLOR TO DISPLAY OBJECTS. THE ENHANCED MAIN DISPLAY UNIT OF THE E-2C IS INCLUDED IN THE CATEGORY OF DISPLAYS UPGRADED TO MULTI-COLOR. SINCE THE UNIT PROVIDES A LARGE QUANTITY AND VARIETY OF COMMAND, CONTROL, AND COMMUNICATIONS INFORMATION, IT IS IMPORTANT THAT COLOR APPLICATION BE OPTIMIZED. A STRUCTURED COLOR APPLICATION METHODOLOGY IS PRESENTED FOR PERFORMING REQUIREMENTS STUDIES FOLLOWED BY PARAMETER MATRIXING. THE MATRIX APPROACH PROVIDES THE MEANS TO MATCH RECOMMENDED COLOR SCHEMES TO DISPLAY OBJECTS.
