In this SBIR Phase II project we will build and test a prototype system based on the feasibility demonstrations performed in Phase I. The system will be a mobile-class, fully self-contained system comprising a fast-GC/QitTof MS analyzer. The full system will occupy about 2.5 cu ft of volume and weigh about 60 lb. It can be powered by 24 VDC or 115 VAC. This system will have the following capabilities: (1) inlet to accommodate SPME samples, (2) Flexible sampling options interfaced to a flash GC subassembly, and (3) dual electron ionization/photoionization source. The end result of this project will be a field-deployable instrument that will significantly outperform competitive systems with regard to multiple compound detection, sensitivity, speed, and accuracy.
