Abstract
Special Operations Forces (SOF) operators need a suite of lightweight, easily deployed, directional tactical antennas with "low-observables" to supplement or replace the omnidirectional radio antennas currently used during Special Reconnaissance missions. This suite of tactical antennas will enable greater communications ranges and more covert transmissions.In Phase II, Syntonics will design, build, test and deliver three different prototype antennas: (1) A Yagi antenna designed to operate in the VHF band (150-170 MHz) with greater than 5 dBi gain; (2) A Yagi antenna designed to operate in the UHF band (404-440 MHz) with greater than 5 dBi gain; (3) A broadband "reconfigurable vee" antenna designed to operate from the 150-170 MHz VHF frequency band to the 404-440 MHz UHF band with greater than 2 dBi gain.
