A small, battery-operated data recorder/analyzer utilizing internal sensors is needed to collect data to improve the design of the ejection seat and restraint mechanisms to reduce injuries and deaths during ejections. SPEC proposes to leverage our existing recorder, multiplexing and telemetry experience to develop a completely autonomous, high G, miniature Ejection Data Acquisition and Recorder Module (EDARM) that is programmable to allow installation on a wide range of ejection seats. This miniaturized state-of-the-art system integrates current battery technology, proven sensors, a powerful processing capability, variable gain amplifiers, programmable filters and analog-to-digital converters to capture and store six-degree-of-freedom (6-DOF) motion of the seat in non-volatile solid-state memory. The proposed architecture not only provides a user friendly system that can be configured for installation on a wide variety of seat designs but can be easily enhanced by re-programming.
