Abstract
SPEC will complete the development of and deliver the Real Time Scene Generator for active imaging radar Fuzing (RTSGF) to enable realistic simulation and hardware-in-the-loop testing of future generations of short range, high speed fuzes. These fuzes will apply high resolution active imaging in order to rapidly detect and classify high value air and surface targets in the presence of passive and active countermeasures, and in cluttered environments. Successful fuzing requires that real time signal processing be performed on target and background delay, Doppler and Radar Cross Section (RCS). Successful simulation of such a fuze’s operational scene will require real time generation of a large number of scattering elements having independent delay, Doppler and RCS. SPEC will apply our software-defined architecture, which enables generation of multiple pulses simultaneously through a single channel; and, provides real-time, frequency-corrected Doppler, wide instantaneous bandwidth, high dynamic range, superior gain flatness, and, low spurious content. The RTSGF will ultimately be capable of generating up to 512 complex targets in a single chassis, each with realistic motion, amplitude, range and Doppler.
