AbstractSYSTRAN, and our subcontractor , Katherine Morse of SAIC (San Diego), will design and selectively demonstrate (in Phase I), and develop and significantly demonstrate (in Phase II), a series of intelligent software agents - collectively called AgentsTools - that will effect the analysis and modeling of data collected in real-time during HLA compliant simulations. AgentsTools will be developed using the highly portable Java language (sith some additional software tools and "plugins"). JavaSoft's RMI (Remote Method Invocation) and Objectspace's Voyager are the two primary adjuncts to Java we will employ. Consequently, AgentsTools will be built on a foundation of COTS software, with an open-architecture to enable and promote user extensibility and flexibility. AgentsTools will be a toolkit of specialized software programs, called "agents," that will alloworganizations to obtain heretofore unavailable insights from HLA-compliant distributed simulations. Two agent examples are Identify_Link_Latency and Monitor_Port_Bandwidth: these two programs will aid researchers in formulating simulations that are correctly implemented with respect to human-in-the-loop control system response. The AgentsTools developed will support all HLA compliant simulations, with backware compatibility to any simulation implemented via distributed, heterogeneous, networks (including the Internet World Wide Web). incremental releases during Phase II will reduce time to market in Phase III.
