Abstract
Tanner Research will be extending to TRL-7 an Information Protection Technology (IPT) scheme that prevents unwanted exploitation of sensitive data found on removable storage media. Tanner’s baseline IPT device was demonstrated and declared to be at TRL-5 in Phase I. Tanner’s Phase II objective, in conjunction with Raytheon Company, is to develop and implement the testing and evaluation procedures, with rigorous validation by suitable metrics, to demonstrate IPT device utility for immediate use in a THAAD missile system application. Tanner’s modular information protection scheme is universally extensible. For example, Tanner’s IPT is now embedded within an industry standard removable hard drive carrier, and the device will protect information on drive units having one or many storage platens. Similarly, IPT design modularity facilitates miniaturizing IPT for use with laptop computers; or, microminiaturizing the IPT hardware implementation for use with PDA-type devices. Tanner’s IPT methodologies permit one or two-person command activation; timed activation; or, remote activation using and RFID control link.
