Abstract
THE PROPOSED PROGRAM IS AIMED AT IDENTIFICATION AND ADAPTATION OF COMPETITIVE JOBS IN PARTICULAR SERVICE INDUSTRIES FOR PERFORMANCE BY INDIVIDUALS OR TEAMS OF INDIVIDUALS WITH SEVERE DISABILITIES TO PERFORM WITHIN NORMAL WORK SETTINGS. EMPHASES ARE PLACED ON TRANSITION FROM SCHOOL TO WORK. THE JOBAID EXPERT COMPRISES FIVE INTERACTIVE MODULES AND SUPPORTING DATABASES WHEREIN INDIVIDUAL DISABILITY AND THE CAPABILITIES TO PERFORM BASIC TASKS REQUIRED FOR VARIOUS JOBS, CLASSIFICATION OF AVAILABLE JOBS ACCORDING TO POTENTIAL ROBOTIC SYSTEM APPLICATION, AND USER INTERFACE REQUIREMENTS ARE INTERRELATED IN A MANNER THAT ALLOWS MATCHING OF POTENTIALLYSUCCESSFUL EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES AND JOB MODIFICATIONS THROUGH THE USE OF ROBOTIC JOB AIDS, DETERMINING THE LEVEL OF DEVELOPMENT NEEDED TO MAKE A GIVEN ROBOTIC JOB AID APPLICATION EFFECTIVE, AND ASSESSING COST EFFECTIVENESS AND THE EFFECT OF SUBSIDIES. TO BE INCLUDED IN THE DEVELOPMENTSARE STANDARDIZED TESTS AND MEASURES FOR ASSESSING THE CAPABILITIES OF INDIVIDUALS WITH PHYSICAL HANDICAPS RELATIVETO INTERACTING WITH COMPUTER HARDWARE USING KEYBOARDS, VOICE COMMANDS AND OTHER METHODS.
