Abstract
Technology Service Corporation proposes a program of analysis, simulation and, in Phase II, experimentation to demonstrate the effectiveness of focal plane array (FPA) radar technology to address significant Navy problems. This includes carrier landing in severely reduced visibility, detection and recognition of ship wakes, weapon delivery, UAV navigation, etc. There have been a number of programs which have developed technology for millimeter wave FDA radar systems. However, very little actual test data illustrating the utility of this approach exists. TSC will use our validated simulation techniques and existing data to demonstrate the performance advantages of FPA radar systems. In Phase II we will perform flight tests to collect data to validate and extend our simulation methods and to demonstrate the focal plane technology more directly with real data.
