Abstract
The purpose of this project is to develop algorithms and approximation methods for the solution of nonlinear filtering problems. The analytical tools and methods will be provided in a software system that integrates symbolic and numerical processing,including graphical generation of grids and branching particle computations. Nonlinear estimation problems are critical to many areas of engineering and the applied sciences. Tool kits for control and finite element analysis have proven very valuable inthose areas. A toolkit for nonlinear filtering would find a wide audience.
