Abstract
The next generation of hypersonic vehicles will require sharp leading edges on the forebody and control surfaces to maximize down- and cross-range capability. Current thermal protection structure materials do not posses the thermochemical stability to withstand the high aerothermal loads of sharp leading edges. Thor Technologies will leverage the results of recent and on-going material development programs to validate novel ultra-high temperature material and processing technologies for hypersonic TPS. Prototype/sub-element TPS components will be designed, manufactured, inspected and delivered for simulated service environment tests. Follow test and evaluation and plan for the design, manufacture, inspection, and integration of flight hardware will be prepared and delivered.
