Abstract
TIAX LLC proposes to develop a multi-layer kinetic energy and thermal shielding system to protect ordnance in the munitions rack of combat vehicles. Functional layers include high performance insulation, flame arrester material, thermal storage to absorb the heat that is conducted through the insulation, and a ballistic protection layer. In Phase I, we will identify a range of configurations using alternative materials and select the best configuration for a proof of concept test.
