Abstract
The overall objective of our program is to develop in-line/on-line systems for hydraulic fluid contamination monitoring. These systems will be based around an array of inexpensive, robust optical sensors, which may be complemented with other commercial sensors. During this Phase I our technical objective is to demonstrate our sensor array ability to detect solid (metal) particulates in hydraulic fluid. During the Phase I option period our technical objective is to demonstrate a correlation between the sensor array response and the contamination level of the hydraulic fluid. Water contamination detection will be addressed during the Phase II.
