Abstract
A simulation Based Design methodology is proposed for application to submarine C4I problems. The methodology is tested by prototyping submarine C4I systems designs in three domains: Conceptual Logical, and Implementation. Software tools are applied to enable systems designers and architects to communicate with authors of requirements specifications through automated processes. These processes are utilized to construct the three prototypes for a submarine C4I problem of interest. The Conceptual Prototype models the system using object oriented constructs which characterize the key aspects of the systems concept of operations, including interfaces, external objects scenario and the ambient environment. The Logical Prototype willmodel the c$I system in terms of hardware, software, and human operators.
