Abstract
Current battlefield situation displays either lack resolution ir restrict the user's perception to a small segment of the battlefield. Additionally, the plotting of data on these displays is extremely manpower-intensive, consuming valuable personnel resources that could be applied to situation analysis and other important tasks. Trident proposes to design and produce an innovative situation awareness display, suitable for use in vehicles and command centers, capable of ingesting digital data directly from sensor assets as well as providing automated plotting for manually-entered data. The display will also provide a configurable threat recognition expert system, enabling the display tool to automatically detect developing situations of interest and alert the user of the danger. Additionally, interoperability with the Distributed Interactive Simulation protocol will allow the tool to be used in a training role in DIS exercises.
