Abstract
GPS sensor technology advances has simplified the TSPI reporting requirement for high and low performance air-vehicles. GPS receivers are attractive sources for the TSPI required by a variety of weapons systems OT&E and DT&E operations on all test ranges. Recent advances in ASIC'S, integration, hybridization and miniaturization coupled with improved electronic packaging techniques have led to a variety of COTS GPS receivers which are small, lightweight and low cost making them highly desirable for recoverable and nonrecoverable missiles and targets. Maximum benefit results when TSPI is radio linked to available test range assets. It is advantageous when the GPS sensor data is included with existing telemetry data without adversely affecting that data. Integration of GPS sensor serial data with existing telemetry data is the subject of Phase I. Solution to the TM-GPS integration is based on a Digital Signal Processing (DSP) interface. Modification to the transmitter RF circuitry is avoided. It uses the power and flexibility of the DSP to accommodate a wide variety of GPS sensor data formats/rates. This approach programs premodulation filters for BER optimization, performs data compression, and performs error correction and detection
