Abstract
Vexcel Corporation proposes to develop and test new and innovative algorithms for the optimal focusing of Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) data. The proposed Phase I effort will involve the development of algorithms tailored for use with low frequency data. The proposed approach will involve identification of special phenomenon associated with these low frequency radars which defocus the resulting imagery. once identified, approaches to improving the resolution through the use of signal processing will be developed. We anticipate signal processing techniques which have been developed in the seismic community may prove to be quite valuable in this effort. The most promising algorithms identified will be tested to demonstrate the applicability to actual low frequency data.
